History

Our rich history began with the first peoples indigenous to the region, who, story has it, utilized a low point in the river as a ‘crossing’.  Stories of hunting, trade, and traversing the territory all spawn from this crossing.  In later years it would connect and aid the early explorers, traders, and settlers in many of the same ways. Thus, the land has always connected its guests with its many treasures and natural beauty; providing a meeting place to exchange ideas and continue moving forward in their journey.

In more recent times The Crossing at Ghost River’s ownership can be traced to the Canadian Pacific Railway.  After changing hands several times, but continuing to be a place recognized for its intangible qualities, The Crossing started its official vehicle as a conference and learning centre in the late 1970s.

In early January of 2011, Ghost River Crossing, as it was formally known, was purchased by its current owners, a private company based in Calgary, AB, who instantly felt the connection with the special qualities of the land.  They had been searching for a place that would allow groups and individuals to come and grow in an unspoiled, inviting environment where real change could be realized away from the city lights.
